About DeMarie Glitzy Glass Studio is my "baby". Once my son was all grown up and married to a wonderful woman of God. I committed myself more and more to seeing GG grow up too! Glass has been molded and shaped in this artist studio since 1993. Beginning with small stained glass items and then gradually growing into a Hot Torch Studio about a year later. The love of glass has been a part of my life for many years. I enjoy the look and feel of an unworked piece and I find that I even dream of designs when I am not at the torch. Other lampworkers seem to "suffer" from this same malady and I am sure that designers dream of finished jewels all the time. I am joined in my daily fun by three lovable rescue dogs and one rescued cat, Buster, Poppy, China and Luna. They all came with their respective names attached, except for Luna our kitty who discovered us by the light of a winter moon, thus her name Luna. I am sad to say that I have to update this part of my story - we lost our beloved Poppy on Apirl 25th, 2006. He came into our lives when I lost my buddy Jack a wonderful little Coton de Tulear to kidney disease. Poppy healed our hearts and brought us so much joy. He now runs with Jack on the Rainbow Bridge. I know that one day I will see them again, as God creates all creatures for our pleasure. UpDate - Luna no longer lives with me, she stayed in NY with a wonderful new owner who lost his cat and wanted to lavish individual attention on a new furry friend.
Our Furry Family Buster, China, Poppy, and Luna At present, I show my work at the local Murrieta Farmer's Market on Saturdays, and work with retail shops that contact me through this website, and with talented freelance designers all across the globe. For many years I wrote a design column for The Record in Troy, NY, but recently stepped down to move to California, where I am now blest to be a member of Cornerstone Church in Wildomar California While I am mostly self taught, beginning my glass journey when it was difficult to get any information. I have been able to take instruction with Sally Prasche, Bandu Scott Dunham and a list of others. But, it is my goal to develop a style that is my own while taking advantage of what my instructors have taught me. This God-given dream of mine would not have been possible without my family's love and support. There were many sacrifices in the beginning and I will always be grateful to them for allowing me to follow my heart. I take great pride in my work and believe that each designer that passes through these virtual doors is a team member and partner of mine. It is my hope that the beads and other glass designs created in Gltizy Glass Studio will enhance your dreams and help your artistic creations come to life. |
